Planning Ahead at Every Grade Level
Grades K-4: Little Sun Devils, Big Adventures
Grades 5-8: Middle School Momentum
Grades 9-12: Getting College-Ready
A new semester is a great time the perfect time for families to pause, reset, and look ahead. No matter your child’s grade level, small check-ins now can set the tone for a confident and successful strong spring.
- For elementary students (K–4):
Focus on strengthening routines—daily reading, consistent homework habits, and simple goal-setting such as “What would you like to get better at this spring?” - For middle school students (5–8):
Talk about core classes, electives and programs that build strong skills, such as AVID or arts and STEM options. These conversations help students prepare for high school pathways. - For high school students (9–12):
Review next year’s courses, check graduation progress, and begin discussing careers or majors. Visit ASU’s Career Services website to review tools and resources that can help Pre-College students explore interests and future goals.
Across all grades, January is a natural moment to refocus, encourage curiosity and support your child’s growth for the semester ahead.
