Early Outreach Scholarship

About the Program

The mission of Access ASU is to deepen and widen the pipeline of Arizona youth enrolling and succeeding at Arizona State University while leveraging the resources at ASU. Accomplishing this mission requires the assistance of staff and current ASU students with a passion to inspire interest in postsecondary education. The Early Outreach Scholarship (EOS) program endorses ASU students as role models for K-12 grade students. Scholarship recipients “give back” by promoting a college going culture to their own high schools, other schools and community organizations throughout Arizona and completing 100 service hours as an Access ASU Campus Ambassador, a Hispanic Mother Daughter Program (HMDP) Peer Mentor, or SPARKS Ambassador.

Criteria

  • Alumni or participant of any Access ASU signature and summer programs, such as First Star at ASU, WeGrad, TRIO, Barrett Summer Scholars, César E. Chávez Leadership Institute, RISE Leadership Institute, Future Sun Devil Family Day, Campus Experience, Hispanic Mother-Daughter Program, Science and Engineering Experience, SPARKS and Access ASU extended programs Camp Catanese and Clubes de Ciencia Arizona. (All applicants are subject to participation verification)
  • Strong desire to help Arizona students prepare for college
  • Minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0
  • Incoming or current full-time ASU student working towards a degree
  • Expected to perform responsibilities outlined above for a full academic year
  • Must have a pending FAFSA application with ASU
  • Ability to maintain flexibility to participate in all ACCESS ASU events

Application requirements

  1. Submit a resume
  2. Submit a digital video presentation using the following criteria:
    1. No longer than 5 minutes in length
    2. Give a personal introduction
    3. Address the question: How has your participation in an Access ASU program helped you succeed?
    4. Describe one of the topics below:
      • A personal obstacle you overcame
      • Your biggest accomplishment
      • Your professional goals
      • What motivates you to help others
