College planning starts now
The journey to college begins long before graduation, and now is the perfect time for high school seniors to take their next step. Arizona State University's application is officially open, giving students the opportunity to apply early, explore academic programs and stay ahead of important admissions, scholarship and financial aid deadlines.
As students prepare their application, a good practice is to review high school transcripts to ensure that students are on track to meet ASU's ABOR admission requirements. These include:
- 4 years of English
- 4 years of mathematics
- 3 years of laboratory science
- 2 years of social science (including 1 year of American history)
- 2 years of the same second language
- 1 year of fine arts or career and technical education (CTE)
** As a reminder, high school graduation requirements differ from ASU’s ABOR admission requirements and could differ from high school to high school. It’s important to take this into consideration during your students academic journey.
If you have questions about your coursework or are missing a required class, schedule a meeting with your school counselor. There may still be time to adjust your schedule and stay on track for admission.
Another important step in the college process is preparing for financial aid. While the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will open later this year, students and contributors, such as a parent or guardian, should create their own Federal Student Aid (FSA) IDs now.
Creating an FSA ID only takes a few minutes, but verification can take several days. Completing this step early will make it easier to submit the FAFSA as soon as it opens.

By taking these steps now, students can begin senior year with confidence and stay ahead throughout the college application process.
