Creating a pathway to future success is more than which school you might choose to attend. It includes discovering majors based on your interests, career exploration, and financial decisions. The information and choices may seem overwhelming, but Access ASU has resources to help!

FutureScape

FutureScape is an interactive career exploration video game that allows learners to identify their interests and utilize their skills in an immersive environment. This game is an opportunity for learners to begin thinking about their future careers in a fun and exciting way.

The career pathways to play include:

  • Aircraft Engineer
  • Astronomer
  • Cosmetic Chemist + Marketing
  • Forensic Scientist + Attorney
  • Marine Biologist/Veterinarian
  • Pharmacist
  • Manufacturing Engineer
  • Urban Planner

This activity is designed to support talent development for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Middle School is a perfect time to start finding what learners are good at and exploring interests.

High School Career Exploration

To support talent development in Arizona high schools, we have created three core workshops that can be facilitated in classrooms. These workshops are best suited for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.

Exploring careers

Career and college decisions are just on the horizon. High school is a perfect time to gain experience and make decisions about the next steps. This workshop will guide learners through understanding how to align genuine interests with various career options. As well as, discussing education options to pursue different career pathways.

Writing your first resume

An interactive activity to walk learners through a step-by-step process to write their resumes. Learners will receive a resume template and accomplishment statement worksheet. The goal of this workshop is to engage learners in thinking about their experiences and what skills they would like to highlight in their accomplishment statements. - This activity can be facilitated on paper or digitally if learners have access to laptops.

Interviews and elevator pitches

As learners prepare to enter into the workforce and gain experience to strengthen their resumes it is important to understand the interview process. This workshop will detail what an elevator pitch is and how to create one to help learners confidently begin interviews. While also teaching learners how to prepare for an interview and the types of questions to expect with tips for success.
